Even though violence is dramatically down, the US government is currently spending more than last year on military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, currently $720 million in Iraq alone – per day.
What would you do with $720million?
The credit crunch has slammed into this year and sucked trillions_ of dollars out of the global economy, particularly from corporate and government revenues, let alone mine. Or yours.
So think about the position of the US government, which is now spending $657 billion_ each_ year_ on the military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan – and $4.5 billion on aid and reconstruction efforts in those two countries.
Can there be a serious answer to the question of what would happen if those last two figures were… not even reversed, but in less disproportion?
I ask because the two major parties in the US appear to agree on military spending levels.
