The Ancient City of Firuzabad, Iran, 1976
Paradise lost: Persia from above is a unique photographic record by the pioneer of aerial photography, Georg Gerster, who was granted unprecedented permission by Her Majesty Empress Farah Pahlavi to record the landscapes and cities of Persia in the late 1970s. The pictures included in the archive were gathered from over 100 different flights, depicting key archaeological sites as well as rarely seen images of life in modern Iran, from ski resorts to densely packed cities.
